Health Struggle

Health has been engaged in a very controversial manner since the appearance of human race. From the development of micro bacteria that causes diseases up to the use of modern medical science to cure these diseases. Health has been very controversial. It is like a never ending crisis.

They say that each person should get the right health treatment. That giving, nursing and curing should be given fairly for everyone. That in Medical science there is no rich or poor individual. But as I watched a documentary about how’s the health status doing in our country, just then I realized how unfair our country is. Those who belongs to the upper or first class family line can get the right medical treatment immediately for they have the money that can provide that treatment, while those who belongs to the inner or third class family forever awaits for the attention of our health care providers.

I am a registered nurse, though I am not practicing my degree I can comfortably and freely say that caring is running in my vain. And it is a shame to accept the fact that not all health care providers can give health treatment fairly, equally and whole heartedly.

The invisible line that is drawn between the horizon of the rich and the poor are seen thru the acts of the health providers around them. If not all at least some of the hospitals follows the policy “No down payment, No Admission”. This policy should not be apprehended when the case is emergency. Any cases is emergency when they are admitted in ER, if the patients shouts of too much pain and if it is obviously and physically seen, payment prior to this should not be held.

I know most of you must be laughing at me, raising their eyebrows and saying “what’s the point in stating a sample of emergency cases”. Yes it is simple, visible and easy to understand, but then how come that some of the health care providers seems like didn’t know those things. As I seen on the documentary that I watched those providers didn’t allow the patients to be admitted due to lack of money for admission fee, this make them to decide to live outside of the hospital, praying that someday they will allow them to be admitted so they will get the right treatment they need. These patients are those who suffer from chronic illness. Haven’t they suffered too much, is their suffering’s not enough for us (health providers) to allow them to be admitted.

I just can take it. It’s a pain in my eyes. That documentary reminds me of the unfair health treatment that I have witness way back in my intern days. They say that you shouldn’t sympathize with your patients, instead you should empathize with them. But haven’t Nightingale teach us to give cure wholeheartedly. To provide health treatment without expecting anything in return except the wellness of that person and do anything with all your best to save one’s life.

Always remember that whatever path you choose if caring is innate to you it will be shown. And we “Health Care Providers Studied and Created to CURE not to SLOWLY KILL

Won’t forget the day we’ve met

When you captivates my innermost

With those simple gaze, you touch my soul

With those simple smile, you instill within.

You asked my name and offer friendship as well

shocked and filled with shyness, I smiled in return

Butterflies landed on my stomach

When you confront me with such bravery.

My fellows started teasing me

Every time you come near me

When you stare at me with those starry eyes

My heart go crazy and jump in glee.

My cardia goes tachy

when you sat next to me

I’ll be in deep, shallowed breathing

when those comforting arms covered me.

Why?…Why am I falling for a guy like you

Is this one sided or are you with me too?

Am not ask’n for more neither demanding

As long as you’re here, I’ll be just fine.

But in case, just in case you’ll catch my fall

My mind and my body will be in great joy

For now just stay like this and take it slow

And build our forever with our simple thoughts…

Sorry, is all I can say

For all the pain and sorrow I made

I know at most time I joked

But with this will you see my sincerity

I played and hurt your feelings,

I even laugh when your in pain

But then when I stumble and cry

You’re the first who held and pulled me up

At times when you needed a helping hand

I’ll just look at you and bluffer around

When you’re troubled and needed advise

Instead of helping, I pushed you down

Now I realized how wrong I am,

I regret it, showing you the badness in me

If your forgiveness is not possible

then hate me instead as much as you can

For by this we can be neutral at last…

100 Days of Happiness

I am just a simple lady with a little girl’s heart. Simple things can make me smile. Things like:
* I am able to write without what others would think. Well I write to EXPRESS not to IMPRESS.
* That like from a book reviewer for the first book review I made, gives me reason to smile and also encourage me to write more reviews. Real soon baby, real soon.

Portrait of a KillerI have encountered the name Jack the Ripper way back in college, and as far as I remember this name was linked with our national hero Jose Rizal. As cited by the book ‘Rizal without the overcoat’, our very own famous and genius hero is also controversially known as ‘Jack the Ripper’. Because there is no proven records saying that he is the Ripper this controversial remains as a Filipino Urban Myth.

As I graduated my study my interest with the myth vanished. But when one of my interns on my previous work told me about this book that he has and let me borrow it. My desire grew like fire as I read the title “The Portrait of A Killer: Jack The Ripper: Case Closed”. I started to recall and even scan my book where in I have first read about Jack The Ripper.

Jack The Ripper is a name given to an unidentified serial killers who was active in the largely impoverished areas in and around the Whitechapel district of London in 1888, where he did the killings and the victims are those who comes from the poverty line and mostly prostitutes or the they so called unfortunates/unwanted.

The Portrait of A Killer: Jack The Ripper: Case Closed, is a story about a guy named Walter Sickert. Walter Sickert is an artist, a painter where in most of his subjects includes nudity and killings. He is considered a prominent figure in the transition from Impressionism to Modernism. He is also an important influence on distinctively British styles of avant-garde art in the 20th century. Most of his paintings includes people and urban scenes. Some of his paintings were used as an evidence for the case. Due to familiarity of the paintings to the murders done in Whitechapel district in London they conclude that the famous painter and Jack the Ripper is one person.

In addition to this the letters sent to the officers at that time do not coincides with eachother like for example one letter would show that the sender is an uneducated person, but the next letter would indicated that the killer is actually educated and smart. Plus the fact that the misspelled words on the first letter would be correctly spelled on the second letter. The killer is smart enough to use this strategy to mislead the police on the wrong direction. There are also letters telling them or giving them the hint on where he would get his next victim. Letters also indicates that the killer love arts and theater. On the other hand Walter Sickert is fond of watching theatrical plays especially if it includes children. He will soon invite them over to his art studio, then he will paint them.

Killings includes the unfortunates, why because they are the people Sickert think he can handle. A theory says that he must be psychologically ill to do this. This illness might be because of him lacking of something. That maybe he is not capable of having sex, so in return he used prostitution to get his victim. And when they are about to do it he’ll kill them. Maybe this gives him pleasure, satisfaction and control, resorting him to do more.

But due to the lack of forensic evidence that time finding the right killer must be really hard. Plus some of the killing on the latter part includes a chopped body part and by that time it was really diffcult to know who owns that part.

Jack the Ripper not only killed a number of people he too killed his own life by slowly destroying it, putting himself in self destruction. Up until now there ain’t no proven evidence that will tell who Jack the Ripper really is. Is it really Walter Sickert or are we pointing our index finger at a wrong person again?
